Jurij is originally from Russia and moved to Sweden to immerse himself in design. Jurij was brought up in an artistic and creative surrounding. Jurij’s father was a well known jeweller in Moscow. Jurij’s artistic interest is also obvious in his design. His products are often inspired by the great artists sculptures or paintings.

Jurij’s first contact with Mitab was when he was a student at HDK school in Gothenburg. Jurij’s mentor Rutger Andersson (also a famous designer) had seen his drawings and brought Jurij along to meet with Mitab. The timing was perfect and on the following fair Mitab launched several new products by the unknown young Jurij Rahimkulov. Among the products was the iconic Mitab easychair Director that has been recognized throughout the world.
