Contemporary cork
Natural, sustainable, easily recycled, warm and soft to the touch; cork has many qualities that make it ideal for much more than just wine stoppers.

Primarily produced in Portugal and Spain, cork is periodically harvested from the bark of the cork oak tree without causing damage to the tree itself. It is then ground up, bound with resin and shaped into usable forms and products.

Over the last few years cork has once again become ‘de rigueur’ for interior products and environments.

Used for centuries, cork’s fashion heyday was as a flooring and wallcovering material during the ’60s and ’70s. In a modern context, cork’s natural and neutral appearance compliments a wide variety of interior colours and schemes, making it a truly contemporary design material.

Mitab’s Boet, Barney and Fred stools all employ moulded and machined reconstituted cork seats. Lightweight, flexible and a good insulator (a cork seat will ensure you are sitting comfortably in hot or cold climates|), cork offers attractive advantages to consider over traditional wooden seats.
