Brad Ascalon is a US based industrial designer working out of his own studio in Manhattan, New York.
In the end I want to achieve that perfect balance, an uncomplicated solution, and a design that doesn’t stand out but rather blends into its environment.
Design and art have run through my family’s veins for three generations. Growing up in such an environment, I was always encouraged to use my creativity, both musically and visually.
My first career choices, however, were in advertising and then the business end of the music industry. After some time, I realized that fighting against the grains of my heritage was something I no longer could do.
Once I saw Mitab’s product line, I knew I had to work with them because I believed then, as I do now, that Mitab has a very similar point of view to my own. The company’s products are not meant to grab peoples’ attention. They are meant to fit naturally within their environments. They don’t scream, they whisper. To me, the best designs are those that whisper. The best companies to work with are those which understand the difference between the two, and those who don’t feel the need to scream.
